Science and Religion

All religions attempt to explain our ultimate origin but so too do certain branches of science.

Both Christianity and Daoism trace our existence back to a single force. In the case of Christianity it is God; in Daoism it is the Dao. The former is understood to be a personal deity who actually revealed himself as Jesus of Nazareth 2000 years ago. The Dao is an impersonal force. Buddhists on the other hand believe that existence is an eternal cycle, with death leading to reincarnation.

Science too explores our origins. Its orthodox view is that the universe came into being from a tiny spec that suddenly expanded – and goes on expanding. Can the scientific and religious accounts be reconciled, or does science replace religious explanations – as some claim? Viewing this series will help you towards answering these questions for yourself.
